WeMoney is a social financial wellness platform that brings together banking, credit scores and access crowdsourced money tips from authentic real people navigating the money journey, together.
We’re backed by visionary VC’s and investors and have achieved rapid growth in Australia (200,000+ downloads in 12 months), we’re looking to expand internationally and spread the message of financial wellness at a global level.
We are seeking a talented software engineer to initially join our AU based engineering team to help shape the back-end APIs that drive our app, supporting 100k+ users in Australia and NZ on a daily basis.
Your primary function will be to maintain our Golang and Docker based microservice APIs that feed data into our mobile iOS and Android apps. We maintain discrete services, connected to in-house databases as well as point to point integrations with third-party vendors. In this role, you will be exposed to a modern, event-driven architecture and a low latency production system.
On a day-to-day basis, you will work remotely as part of the wider AU engineering team. We are looking for someone who understands the entire SDLC with a focus on application development, testing, and performance. You will have previously been exposed to reading unfamiliar Go source code and are comfortable with analysing and prioritizing issues, as well as estimating effort.
This role has a view to support WeMoney’s growth by joining a brand new engineering team, adapting our product for the international market within six months
How you contribute * You maintain WeMoney’s Golang based application back-end, i.e. our discrete customer and community APIs. * You participate in ideation and feature exploration sessions with the wider business to define what good features look like; you clarify ambiguous or vague requirements as necessary. * You independently test your software using the appropriate level of automation required by the team. * Performing peer reviews of other team members’ code, providing a steady stream of informed, well articulated feedback. * As part of the wider engineering team, you help shape the design and architecture of the entire WeMoney system.
What you're bringing to the table * Computer science degree, or equivalent technical or engineering related qualification with solid fundamentals in algorithms and data structures. * You have 3+ years of experience as a full-time software engineer in a Golang based production environment. * Excellent analytical and problem solving skills. You routinely read other developer’s source code. * You follow defensive coding practices and understand advanced programming related concepts, including concurrency, transactions, application performance and security. * Ideally, you have recent experience in a business based on Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) products and services across Australia & New Zealand.
